9 NFT Trends That are Redefining the NFT Space in 2022

May 17, 2022

NFTs have for some time now been getting all the attention a digital token could get particularly with the NFT trends currently going around.

As an NFT fan, you may or may not know about these trends but one certain thing is the fact that these NFT trends ranging from NFT music to web3, buying and selling NFT collections could be a defining moment for NFT users this year.

In this article, we are going to take a look at some of these trends and why we believe that they are worthy of note.

9 Redefining NFT Trends in 2022

NFT Communities

NFT Trends

For so long, NFT communities have been in existence for as long as NFTs themselves.

These communities have served as a gathering of NFT collectors and fans who are willing to do all it takes to promote a certain NFT.

Nowadays, businesses and organizations are beginning to see the benefit of these communities to their products and are now making moves to promote their products digitally through these communities.

At the same time, it is believed that giving these NFT communities intellectual property controls and allowing them to get creative in terms of product marketing and branding is a good step toward ensuring that businesses get more value for their products and services.

The bottom line here is that these communities exist for a reason and are playing their path towards redefining the NFT space.

Tokenization and Gaming

Tokenization and Gaming

As an NFT user, you are probably well aware of the benefits NFT games have brought to the digital space.

Games like Axie Infinity are already setting the pace in terms of what NFTs can bring to the table when it comes to the gameplay experience and in-game assets.

The game even has an NFT reward program where NFT players get to earn up to $15 per hour as NFT rewards.

In addition, there is the native token known as the $AXS token that players can use while in the game.

These are just a mention of some of the benefits that NFTs are bringing and the trends that are popping up.

We have come to realize that NFTs are evolving and have gone beyond just arts and images to things even more complex.

In the end, it is expected that this hearing would lead to NFTs venturing into more uncharted territories to yield even better opportunities for NFT users and fans alike.

The Metaverse

The Metaverse

The Metaverse is a concept still being understood by many particularly because of its varying explanations and definitions.

This however does not take away the fact that NFT has a role to play in the metaverse.

Today, we have witnessed metaverses such as Decentraland incorporate into it NFTs that serve as items users can buy, sell and even trade.

Even businesses are starting to see the importance of the metaverse and by so doing stay ahead of the game, following trends, and being relevant.

Companies such as Nike already have their metaverse known as Nike Town, where it would be promoting its products digitally as NFTs to interested parties.

Other companies such as Microsoft and Meta Inc have also acknowledged the fact that the role of NFTs in the metaverse cannot be overemphasized and the metaverse itself is something that would continue to evolve as it gains wider recognition in the coming future.

Bored Ape Yacht club member Jace Kay in his opinion believes that Apple will lead the way as far as the metaverse and NFTs are concerned.

According to him, the catch could be the rumored price tag of the Apple VR headset which may come in around $3000 for the high-end AR/VR tech.

He also made mentioned that there won’t be just one metaverse rather the metaverse would be decentralized and would be a mixture of apps, events, spaces, and platforms.

These are some of the ways NFTs in line with the metaverse are shaping the way we view our world and are a trend that may not be going away any time soon.

Web 3.0

Web 3.0

Web 3.0 has been a topic that has been trending recently in discussions.

Fortunately, NFTs are made for web 3.0 and it wouldn’t be a surprise that web 3.0 moves away from the familiar concept of analyzing data such as the internet, while venturing into other concepts such as owning and getting rewards, particularly in NFT games such as Fortnite and the likes.

With web 3.0, the internet as we know it will evolve and this evolution may very well begin starting this year.

Music NFTs

Music NFTs

As of today, music NFTs are a new concept that is still being explored by music artists and NFT investors themselves. Music NFTs simply refer to song lyrics that are converted digitally to NFTs.

These NFTs are an alternative means for music artists to have revenue generations.

Not only that, but music NFTs also make it easy for music artists to get their compensation in the form of royalties and the likes.

This is why there has been a massive adoption of NFTs by music artists.

Popular NFTs such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club are one NFT collection that has witnessed massive recognition and adoption from Music artists as it is owned by a lot of music celebrities.

It is even assumed that Jack Dorsey stepped down as Twitter CEO to run Block to get streaming services such as Tidal to adopt music NFTs.

Companies like Station head which enables users to broadcast live shows and stream their music from Apple Music and Spotify have said that it will exist in and across the metaverse where listeners can drop in and chat or release their music.

NFTs on the blockchain will reward fans who follow a band or track royalties for musicians.

Real-World Experiences

Another thing that’s starting to happen, but it’s kind of fun and is tied into the kind of utility you get, is real-world experiences.

If you’re supporting an NFT project it means you’re invested in a community and one of the rewards will be regular events for holders.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT holders have already started, with an NYC party in 2021 that saw 2,000 BAYC NFT holders gather in a secret warehouse location to watch Beck, Chris Rock and a specially reformed of The Strokes take to the stage.

These real-life experiences are going to be amazing.

Digital Tagging and Ownership

At the moment, we talk about NFTs giving artists and creators ownership of digital content, but in the future, everything will have an NFT.

Right now we’re talking about art and music, but we’re also starting to talk about buying the simplest of things such as foods such that everything we buy will have a digital footprint that lets us know who owns what.

Imagine if Adele buys a sweater, and then sells it, you’ll know that it was Adele’s sweater and its value goes up.

Having digital tags on physical items and experiences is beginning to happen.

It opens up a lot more opportunities to build interesting things with transparency.

Personality NFTs

This year, it is believed that Personality NFTs would take off in full effect. These NFTs are digital representations of the personalities of different individuals.

For instance, music artists could take advantage of personalized NFTs by performing using their personality NFT rather than themselves.

Hopefully, there would be certain applications that would be created to make this a reality.

Nonetheless, expect to see musicians and celebrities adopting NFT personalities in 2022.

It’s already happening with an example being the musician Teflon Sega who only exists in the Metaverse as a performer. Hopefully, other music artists would follow suit and before long this would become the present.

NFT Avatars

NFT Avatars

The advantage of NFTs over traditional IP creation is that you can own a piece of a wider brand, and make money off it.

NFTs such as Bored Ape Yacht Club and StereoheadZ enables users to mint their art for the group, bringing a new sense of creativity to a community of artists, animators, and musicians.

In the case of Jace Kay’s NFTs band, the personality Avatars were sourced from the community, and payments were returned to those artists.

It helped that an as yet secret rock star was part of the StereoheadZ Music Club.

In 2022 it is expected that more NFT avatars would take off as NFT collections such as BAYC have many projects in the works, and members can put up their Bored Apes or StereoheadZ for use, and get a cut of the profits.

Final Note

It is exciting to see that the above-listed NFT trends are gradually going to redefine the NFT space and making positive changes to the world around us.

Some of these NFT trends are already setting the world ablaze while others are slowly gaining the recognition they deserve.

This means that there is progress and it is only a matter of time before they become regular.

However, one thing is sure and that is that these trends are going to be our reality sooner than later.
